We are seeking a Director of Cost Accounting to join our Finance team to set objectives and maintain cost policies for manufacturing, production analytics, and inventory reporting. The applicant must have demonstrated abilities in a leadership role and experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment. This position will work closely with other departments and ensure that the financial information produced is complete, accurate, and useful to internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will thrive in the high-paced environment of an early-stage fast-growth company and apply a hands-on collaborative approach.
How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:
- Develop and maintain the accounting for cost of goods sold and inventory, including valuation
- Prepare and maintain standard costs, which will include analysis of cost drivers and pools across the business
- Maintain the ERP(PLEX) costing system to generate accurate product costs, inventory valuation, and variance analysis
- Support the general ledger team with monthly and quarterly accounting close, which may include the review of journal entries, reconciliations, and process documentation
- Collaborate with relevant departments to understand product cost projections, perform analysis of actual cost details, and implement changes/improvements timely
- Manage the completeness and accuracy of bill of materials, routings, and overhead rates working closely with supply chain and quality teams
- Identify and support continual process and procedure improvements for increased efficiency of leading data for analysis
- Serve as an expert on cost accounting issues and related standard processes and procedures and be ready to support all aspects of the business
Minimum Qualifications We are seeking:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in accounting and/or MBA in Accounting or Finance
- CPA/CMA qualification
- 10+ overall years of relevant cost accounting experience and 5+ years of leadership experience
- Deep understanding of manufacturing operations, inventory valuation, and cost accounting
- Ability to develop and mentor a team to work collectively towards objectives and timely meet deadlines
- Highly driven self-starter with the ability to navigate complex issues
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
Above and Beyond Qualifications that will distinguish you:
- Strong financial and manufacturing knowledge with aviation, transportation, or technology experience.
- Experience with PLEX ERP
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Work is performed both in an office environment and in a manufacturing environment. Must have the ability to lift and carry small parcels and other items, stand for long periods, and walk between facilities and locations. This position is not suitable for remote work.
