Electrochemical Operating Engineer to assist in the Company’s growth:
The ideal candidate for this role will have earned at least a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following disciplines: Electrochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. (S)he will have at least 5 years’ direct experience in commercial operations of electrolysis and/or electrochemical systems, including both operations and engineering elements. An understanding and track record of process and operational safety is required.
Specific Responsibilities Include
- Oversight of occupational/ operational safety of Infinium electrolysis and electrochemical systems – establishing communications and education to ensure safety awareness among all plant and technology employees and visitors – compliant with all pertinent legal requirements, site policies, company guidelines, and company safety culture
- Providing expertise to the Technology and Engineering teams to help inform the selection and purchase of electrolysis systems and their ancillary subsystems
- Synthesis of: Safe Operating Procedures; Startup, shutdown, and emergency procedures; incorporation of all operating procedures into plant and site operations standards and documentation
- Establishing specifications and critical quality assessment and control principles for successful operation of the electrolysis units and the associated feeds and utilities feeding the unit
- Establishment of protocols and practices regarding preventative and (anticipated) corrective maintenance requirements – incorporating vendor recommendations, site guidelines, and relevant professional experience into the synthesis of maintenance procedures; documenting the recurring requirements and tracking their successful implementation
- Establishing and maintaining deep understanding of applied electrochemical fundamentals – honed through a combination of theoretical understanding, operating practice, and practical experience. The focal point of this requirement will be establishment and implementation of a full operating curve (throughput-current density-efficiency) performance characterization.
- Providing systems expertise and operational oversight of ancillary subsytems associated with electrochemistry equipment: water conditioning, electrical conditioning/ filtering, etc.
- Ongoing interpretation of operating data in light of this performance mapping – and leading the assessment of cause/effect regarding deviations from the intended operating point(s) – as well as the longer-term health of the equipment and its components
- Along with Operations and Engineering teams, engage with vendors to problem shoot and to optimize operation of the units
- Keeping apprised of advances in the field – both associated with the devices that have been assimilated into Infinium operations and others (emerging) that might be competitive in future installations. Ongoing recommendations will be expected by both the Technology and Operations teams for potential improvements in either dimension of these assets.
- Deriving and implementing heat and mass balance analytics and accounting associated with electrolysis operations – helping track and fully interpret operating efficiencies. These analytics will also be distilled into routine protocols for tracking and logging key operating parameters.
