The Capital Projects Director will oversee the Infinium Capital projects program and deliver projects meeting all project objectives set out by the Steering Team. This role is responsible for projects starting just after the development phase and bringing projects through pre-FEED (FEL2), FEED (FEL3), execution and commissioning. The projects will be a mixture of large capital projects at brownfield revamp sites all the way up to world class greenfield major projects. The position is responsible for the classic project management responsibilities in a project: design, procurement, and construction, working with a variety of contractors and vendors. But also, will need to coordinate with internal and external technology suppliers, and commercial team to deliver the overall project. You will report administratively to the Senior VP of Engineering but will answer to the Project Steering Committee composed of C-Suite representatives from different functions of the company. You will solve issues, manage risks, and recommend solutions while working and building relationships with all project stakeholders.

YOU HAVE:
- An accredited degree in an appropriate Engineering Discipline, equivalent degree or technical program on Construction Management or the ability to demonstrate equivalence through experience and other education to successfully perform the role.
- Eight plus years of relevant experience in complex major capital projects involving bespoke design, technical designs in oil and gas, or other industrial processing facilities.
- At least two plus years of direct project team leadership in a large complex project totaling over $200M. Demonstrated experience in FEED/EPC contract development and management.
- Working knowledge of managing projects in an owner’s team and integrating those experiences across different groups, including project management professionals and also those in commercial or design roles lacking direct project experience.
- Demonstrated experience of being able to work in large complex teams, and managing or leading EPC teams of engineers, project engineers, and construction execution team.
- Strong understanding of project controls, change control, and project stewardship and reporting for third parties
- Having experience with revamps or brownfield projects would be very helpful in being successful in this role.
- Have a broad experience to integrate the various parts of a large project (permits, design, execution planning, contract planning, procurement processes and working with vendors, construction, cost estimating, commissioning) will be very helpful in being successful in this role
- A keen interest in learning, growing, and implementing your learning into all aspects of your work
- The ability to work independently, but also communicate and involve others as needed
- This role is less about specific degrees or years of experience and more about direct relevant experiences. Candidates that can demonstrate that knowledge and experience will be more successful in this exciting opportunity. This role will be highly dependent on how the candidate can form and lead a team while being able to do many of the direct work tasks needed to make the project successful. Knowing which areas need more oversite and which areas benefit from less owner oversight will help the candidate be more successful in this role.
- For candidates willing to work remotely, be able to demonstrate during the interview process how they have been successful in the past in a remote role, or a deep understanding of what they will need to do to be successful in a remote Project Director role.
YOUR WORKING ENVIRONMENT: You are willing to work either in hybrid environment in Sacramento, Ca, or are an experienced remote worker willing to travel when the job demands it. [Overland Park, KS if you do not require relocation and are already present in the KC metro area] In all cases you will be expected to visit suppliers, vendors, and contractors when needed and travel to the established project site when needed or to oversee critical milestones. Infinium doesn’t post a percentage of travel, because the amount of travel varies by the individual, the status of the project, and the current issues and risks of the project that the Director needs to manage.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate is someone who has led a project team in a project greater than $200M dollars from concept to start-up, either on the Owner’s side or the EPC side. Or a person that accountable for a smaller project but been in a lead or sub-project manager role in a much larger project whose next opportunity would be Project Manager in a $200M project. A person who has also had experience with leaner engineering teams scaling up technology from the demonstration plant phase to the commercial phase would add to the candidates ability to be successful, provided they have the project management experience. Other good candidates would be Project Managers who have overseen Production System or Refinery Projects involving complex processing equipment of hydrocarbons or someone who has been a Project Manager for larger industrial projects that requires complex interface management, higher pressure or that involves high temperature processing equipment. Should that person also have some experience in an operating plant environment, that would help them be more successful as they could apply those experiences in this work to create stronger projects. The ideal candidate is humbly confident in their knowledge and work, able to speak up and advocate for specific decisions in the project, while being flexible enough to internalize the needs and feedback from the Steering Committee. The ideal candidate is willing to roll up their sleeves and fill in some of the skill gaps in the team where it is needed and support the team versus delegating everything to a contractor.
