Koloma is a geologic hydrogen company that leverages its technology, proprietary data, and human capital advantages to identify and commercialize these resources on a global scale. We are developing technologies that will enable the production of low cost, 24/7 available carbon-free hydrogen. Our team is led by seasoned energy executives and world-renowned technical thought leaders. We are looking for a fantastic Field-based Geologist to join our team in Columbus, Ohio.
Ideal Candidate (Requirements):
· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related field
· 4-8 years Geology experience, preferably well-site geology, field based work in various rock description, mud gas and logging
· Relevant geological experience, such as in oil and gas, geothermal or mineral mining
· Experience with mudlogging or similar field-based rock characterization and interpretation, including experience working with instrumentation (e.g., gas chromatography and mass spectrometry)
· Experience working with hard rocks and working in a variety of geological settings
· Understanding and working knowledge of the drilling process and subsurface data acquisition
· Good interpersonal skills; able to liaise comfortably with all rig levels of rig-based company personnel, geological and drilling teams
Ideal Candidate (Nice to haves):
· Experience with drilling data acquisition, rock and fluid sampling
· Previous mudlogging experience highly preferred
· Gas chemical instrumentation experience
· Willing to learn new instrumentation and troubleshoot with a multi-disciplinary team
Job Responsibilities:
· Responsible for all site related geological samples and fluid data collection, analysis and storage and transportation. First point of contact for all site related analysis and data interpretations, including rock cuttings, gas and liquids
· Successful data collection as related to target drilling depths and lithologies and logging tools picking test points for MDT or DSTs
· Field coordination between mudlogging company, internal mobile laboratory and geoscientists
· Coordinate cuttings collection and accountable for gas and fluid collection on site. Able to analyze and interpret real time data
· Works closely with and takes guidance from the supervising Geologist; in frequent communication with the Operations Geologists, lab personnel, mud logger, company man etc. to ensure smooth coordination and successful sample and data collection

· This is a hybrid role with extensive field-based work and travel during operations. The Koloma office is based in Columbus, Ohio
