Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 to create a circular supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy products, making them more sustainable and driving down the cost for batteries. We’re doing this by developing and deploying new technologies to increase the scope and scale of recycled and sustainable materials in the global battery supply chain.
Senior Director of Human Resources
As the Senior Director of Human Resources at Redwood Materials, you will be instrumental in shaping and executing our people strategy to support the company's growth and long-term success. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you will play a critical role in driving the company's people strategy, and overseeing HR functions, including employee relations, operations, systems, learning and development and other areas of HR. In this role, you will lead the HR Team, collaborate with other cross-functional senior leaders in implementing important HR initiatives, and help build a great company culture.
Responsibilities will include:
- Lead and mentor a team of HR professionals, including HRBPs, HRIS specialists, and other experts, to ensure successful delivery of HR services across the organization.
- Oversee the development and execution of performance management systems and processes, ensuring fair and objective evaluations.
- Champion employee engagement and recognition programs to foster a positive, diverse and inclusive work environment.
- Serve as the HR Business Partner to our executive team while providing strategic HR guidance to senior leadership on organizational development and change management initiatives.
- Develop strategies for employee retention, succession planning, and career development to foster a high-performance culture.
- Utilize data-driven insights to assess HR metrics, identify trends, and develop actionable strategies for continuous improvement. Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior leadership, highlighting key HR performance indicators.
- Champion development and implementation of Company wide learning and development programs, focusing especially on manager and leadership development courses.
- Support the Company’s diverse exempt and non-exempt workforce and effectively communicate employee needs and concerns to the Chief People Officer and the management team.
- Partner with Legal Team in ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations, and working on special projects to update HR policies and procedures as needed to maintain legal and ethical standards.
- Continue to innovate and automate HR processes and systems to enable scale, efficiency, cost-savings, automation and better customer experience.
Desired Qualifications
- A minimum of 8 years of HR experience, including at least 3 years in leadership positions driving HR functions and managing HR teams and professionals.
- Experience in a related industry (manufacturing, transportation, mining, or technology) and/or start-up environment is preferred.
- Experience in a high-growth industry or startup environment is highly desirable.
- Experience implementing HR processes and systems in various areas of HR.
- An understanding of U.S. employment laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
- HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) is a plus.

- Passion for sustainability.
- Must be located in or willing to relocate to Reno, NV, as this role is onsite.
The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
