Production Supervisor, Hydrometallurgy
Redwood Materials is seeking a Production Supervisor to join our facility located east of Reno, NV. This facility will house multiple units that will help Redwood close the loop on battery manufacturing. As an industry leader in recycling and sustainability, Redwood is quickly expanding to serve the needs of the market and is looking for motivated team members to help cement the company as an industry leader.
In this leadership role, the Production Supervisor will guide a team of chemical operators in the continuous effort to produce in-spec product, safely and efficiently. The Production Supervisor will demonstrate consistent and best work practices to set the foundation for how chemical processing, safe work, and basic functional skills should be practiced throughout the facility. They will coordinate with respective stakeholders to continuously improve the day-to-day operation of the facility while continuing to grow their team’s skills.
Responsibilities will include:
- Facilitate the implementation of the training program to ensure compliance is achieved for all training policies and requirements.
- Build effective relationships with employees that will improve the likeliness to be successful; accomplished through strong manufacturing floor presence and ongoing engagement with front line supervisors and coordinators
- Provide training and mentoring to new hires in safety, company policy, procedures, work instructions, along with manufacturing topics through hands-on and classroom-based learning
- Development of individualized training plans to address deficiencies, resourcing, and optimization of overall staffing levels
- In conjunction with site leadership, develops the department manufacturing strategy and supports its execution, including operations shift planning and delegation
- Lead a diverse team to develop an inclusive work environment that delivers safe, reliable, cost optimized production
- Set expectations, provide feedback, and hold people accountable for their actions and responsibilities in meeting those expectations
- Work with all key stakeholders to ensure you and your team are prepared for start-up, shut down, and continual operation of the plant
- Identify potential risks to performance. Lead your team in resolving those issues where possible. Escalate to the relevant stakeholders to minimize impact when necessary.
- Communicate and drive complex improvement ideas and information effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Monitor production KPIs, making production changes where necessary to meet these KPIs
- Able to prioritize and assign responsibility across team to efficiently manage an ever-changing environment
- Listen to team member’s feedback and resolve any issues or conflict
Desired Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution required
- AAS Degree or higher preferred
- 5+ years in a chemical / mining / refinery facility
- Previous experience in a training or leadership role highly preferred
- Possess an interest in people development
- Ability to differentiate learning strategies and instruction methods in varied situations
- Excellent critical thinking and time management
- Able to effectively communicate across the company hierarchy
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient hazard recognition skills and ability to teach and direct reports on hazard recognition abilities
- Comfortable with fork lifts, hoists, and scissor lifts
- Self-motivated; able to take problems and drive them to completion using company resources
- Must be willing/able to work in a chemical manufacturing environment. Must be able to climb stairs, perform physical lifts up to 50 pounds and wear site standard PPE
- Proficient understanding of life critical procedures such as Safe Work Permitting, Hot Work, Confined Space Entry, Line Breaks/Openings, and Working from Heights
- Experience with HMI programs preferred
