ESS Technician
We are seeking an experienced Energy Storage Field Service Technician to join our ESS Decommissioning Team. This team will primarily focus on the teardown and decommissioning of remote battery storage sites at the Commercial and Utility scale. The job will require travel to remote locations to work across all areas of the decommissioning process. Inclusive of project planning, physical disassembly of battery storage systems and well as handling, packaging, loading and prepping of batteries for safe transport back to our Recycling and Battery Materials campus.
Additionally, the role will require technicians to support our Nevada Facilities operations in between decommissioning jobs. The Facilities scope will include work across our office and production facilities in Northern Nevada to provide support for a variety of daily projects and initiatives. In this role you will be responsible for managing daily work requests, supporting daily rounds, facilities equipment checks, and providing support for a variety of maintenance tasks across the organization. Experience in battery disassembly and safe handling, ability to travel for extended periods of time, HVAC, electrical systems, compressors, generators, forklifts, and light construction preferred. The role requires an eye for quality and the ability to execute multiple tasks with minimal oversight. This individual must be able to work across a wide range of teams and disciplines in a dynamic and scrappy start up environment. Great leadership skills and the ability to drive actions across multiple stakeholders is a must.
Responsibilities will include:
- Travel to remote job sites for extended periods of time.
- Onsite decommissioning of Commercial and Utility scale Energy Storage Systems.
- Teardown, packaging, loading and safe handling of battery materials in preparation for shipment.
- Maintaining a safe and clean job site.
- Ability to operate cranes, forklifts, and small construction equipment.
Facilities Technician Responsibilities:
- Maintain Facilities systems Compressors, HVAC, and general building systems.
- Be able to troubleshoot and provide maintenance support for systems as needed.
- Manage basic projects and provide oversite of contractors and 3rd party work.
- Create and implement basic facilities for SWI's.
- Complete daily tasks list and facilities work requests.
- Troubleshoot and respond to general facilities related issues.
- Working cross functionally across our operations teams on a variety of projects to support team growth and our continuous improvement goals.
Desired Qualifications:
- Background in either Energy Storage System installation, commissioning, decommissioning or battery teardown.
- At least two years of experience supporting Field Service, Maintenance or Production organizations.
- Ability to travel and work at remote locations for extended periods of time.
- Physical ability to lift heavy materials.
- Understanding of electrical systems both AC and DC voltages with an emphasis on battery technologies.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair at a high level. Self-motivated, hands-on mindset, with a willingness to contribute at all levels.
- Working with and maintaining tools and equipment necessary to perform work duties.

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
