Role Summary
In this role, you will be working on battery production and manufacturing at the module level. This position will report into the Senior Manager of Battery Systems Engineering.
Responsibilities
- \n
- Member of Battery Module Electro-mechanical design team \n
- Responsible to lead team in launch of battery pack into start of production, sustaining and continuous improvement of battery module after launch \n
- Design responsibility of assemblies and components during production launch, ramping up of production and sustaining phase \n
- Responsible for maintaining ramp rate of battery pack, subassembly, and components during launch and into production \n
- Holistic sustainability of Battery Module assembly, subassembly, and components \n
- Continued optimization of Battery Pack, subassembly, and components \n
- Lead Design Reviews \n
- Lead BOM management and change management \n
- Lead DFMEA efforts and support of PFMEA efforts \n
- Prepare rework plans and quality requirements for rework. \n
- Collaborate with manufacturing and Quality to solve yield and scrap issues \n
- Define validation requirements based on design or process change \n
- Lead product improvements and understanding impacts of cost and mass. \n
- Lead battery module teardown efforts for factory and field failures \n
- Lead supplier engagement activities to drive home changes, monitor line audits and manage part qualifications \n
Qualifications
- \n
- Must have bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of industry experience or master’s degree with 2+ years of industry experience \n
- Experience with battery module design including structural, thermal, and electrical components of battery module. \n
- Understanding of battery system architectures and system requirements. \n
- Understanding and execution of root cause and corrective action \n
- Proficiency with statistics and data analysis \n
- Understanding of line FAT and SAT \n
- Strong understanding of high-volume manufacturing processes and equipment \n
- Strong collaboration skills with engineering, manufacturing, reliability, and quality engineers \n
- Experience with release engineering including CAD design, GD&T, and PLM interface \n
- Familiarity with modeling/analysis tools for structural and thermal analysis \n
- Understanding of safety protocols for battery modules \n
- Experience with automotive DVP&R cycle, requirements management, and issue tracking – JIRA, JAMA, IQ-RM, Plato \n
- Proficiency with CATIA V6 (3Dx) and Enovia proficiency \n
Pay Disclosure

- \nSalary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $135,000 - $155,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law). \n
- \nBenefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums. \n
