    Role Summary

    The Lead Test Engineer works with other members of the test team to execute system-level Powertrain testing as part of Rivian’s product development process. The activities also include enhancing test facility capability, working with requesters on methodology development and, writing automated testing scripts for efficient test execution. From there, automated post-processing, checks on data quality, and feedback to the test requester are required.


    Responsibilities

      \n
    • Perform and lead system-level validation testing for Powertrain (and occasional vehicle testing in lab environment)
    • \n
    • Lead the development of new and existing test system capabilities, from requirements definition phase up to ensuring efficient utilization
    • \n
    • Develop test methods for electric Powertrain products including, instrumentation and data acquisition setups, assuring quality, repeatable results
    • \n
    • Support other Rivian teams in the generation of Rivian Test Standards, providing technical input on test setups and validation plans
    • \n
    • Define drive unit and gearbox test profiles and, support the implementation of the test profiles into automated test scripts
    • \n
    • Analyze test data, write test reports, and sign-off for publication
    • \n
    • Be a technical point of contact for E-axle testing expertise for other areas of Rivian
    • \n
    • Troubleshoot testing issues with bespoke test beds and devices under test
    • \n
    • Support departmental continuous improvement endeavors
    • \n

    Qualifications

      \n
    • BS in Engineering with minimum 8+ years of relevant experience
    • \n
    • Experience in testing or developing of electric axles and drivetrains
    • \n
    • Experience with the design, construction, implementation, and validation of electric powertrain test equipment
    • \n
    • Demonstrated experience in data analysis and scripting for automated data analysis tools such as NI DIAdem, and CONCERTO is preferred
    • \n
    • A thorough knowledge of automotive CAN and CAN FD communication, including the ability to create .DBC or FIBEX CAN and database files
    • \n
    • Experience in configuration, development and maintenance of Veristand test system is preferred
    • \n
    • Experience in configuration, development and maintenance of other dynamometer controls systems such as REPS, STARS/SPARC, PUMA, etc. could be a substitute,
    • \n
    • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast paced and dynamic work environment
    • \n
    • Ability to work autonomously
    • \n

    Role Summary

    The Lead Test Engineer works with other members of the test team to execute system-level Powertrain testing as part of Rivian’s product development process. The activities also include enhancing test facility capability, working with requesters on methodology development and, writing automated testing scripts for efficient test execution. From there, automated post-processing, checks on data quality, and feedback to the test requester are required.


    Responsibilities

    • Perform and lead system-level validation testing for Powertrain (and occasional vehicle testing in lab environment)
    • Lead the development of new and existing test system capabilities, from requirements definition phase up to ensuring efficient utilization
    • Develop test methods for electric Powertrain products including, instrumentation and data acquisition setups, assuring quality, repeatable results
    • Support other Rivian teams in the generation of Rivian Test Standards, providing technical input on test setups and validation plans
    • Define drive unit and gearbox test profiles and, support the implementation of the test profiles into automated test scripts
    • Analyze test data, write test reports, and sign-off for publication
    • Be a technical point of contact for E-axle testing expertise for other areas of Rivian
    • Troubleshoot testing issues with bespoke test beds and devices under test
    • Support departmental continuous improvement endeavors

    Qualifications

    • BS in Engineering with minimum 8+ years of relevant experience
    • Experience in testing or developing of electric axles and drivetrains
    • Experience with the design, construction, implementation, and validation of electric powertrain test equipment
    • Demonstrated experience in data analysis and scripting for automated data analysis tools such as NI DIAdem, and CONCERTO is preferred
    • A thorough knowledge of automotive CAN and CAN FD communication, including the ability to create .DBC or FIBEX CAN and database files
    • Experience in configuration, development and maintenance of Veristand test system is preferred
    • Experience in configuration, development and maintenance of other dynamometer controls systems such as REPS, STARS/SPARC, PUMA, etc. could be a substitute,
    • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast paced and dynamic work environment
    • Ability to work autonomously
