Role Summary
In this role you will be taking Dimensional Requirements from Rivian's Central Dimensional Engineering Team and ensure that requirements are embedded within the concept, design and execution of new and existing production lines. In addition, with line commissioning to root cause and address dimensional concerns and ensure effective hand-over to the factory process team. The opening will be located at our Normal, IL facility and reports directly to our Manufacturing Engineering, Manager.
Responsibilities

- Design and implement body manufacturing processes & equipment to grow production capacity in line with corporate goals. \n
- Partner with production engineers and leaders to ensure a successful ramp and long-term production. \n
- Provide product feedback to design engineering teams to ensure manufacturability without compromising product function or performance. \n
- Ensure achievement of safety, quality, cost, timing & throughput targets on all projects. \n
- Provide regular, metric-based project updates to the management team. \n
- Understand and follow company and industry standards and best practices in project implementation. \n
- Actively look for ways to add value beyond specifically assigned scope of work. \n
- Challenge assumptions that are not backed up by a thorough engineering evaluation. \n
- Be part of a world-class engineering team, with a focus on high quality work and rapid project deployment. \n
- Support other Manufacturing Engineering groups to ensure that decisions and solutions are optimized for Rivian (not silo mindset) \n
- Mentor and provide guidance to Manufacturing Engineering team members \n
- Staff level engineers demonstrate leadership, discipline, self-reliance and developing a clear action plan while executing against it to solve critical production scaling and ramp challenges. \n
Qualifications
- \n
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar technical field. \n
- 5+ years of experience in an engineering role related to automated manufacturing equipment and process. \n
- Knowledgeable in high and low volume manufacturing skills and concepts (cycle time analysis, quality control, equipment efficiency, equipment selection, return on investment, etc.). \n
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and see the solution implemented to a high level of accuracy & quality. \n
- Ability to work independently to develop a plan to execute deliverables with general guidance. \n
- Knowledgeable in high and low volume manufacturing (proto-typing, OEE, equipment selection, DFM, Tooling CAD, Virtual commissioning, Robotic Simulation, etc.) \n
- Capable of working as a member of a team across several cross functional disciplines, including with external stakeholders. \n
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. \n
- Excellent problem solver leveraging first-principles to challenge status quo. \n
- Ability to manage capital projects with aggressive timelines. \n
- Experienced in working within 2D & 3D CAD environments. \n
