Role Summary
Rivian is looking for a Manager Industrial Engineering to improve the production output in Normal, IL. As a Manager Industrial Engineering, you will have the opportunity to lead & plan utilization of facilities, equipment, materials and personnel to improve efficiency of operations in the fastest growing industry in the country and make a true impact on growing the Electric Vehicle Industry. The opening is located at our Normal, IL facility and reports directly to the Industrial Engineer Sr. Manager.
Responsibilities

- Plans and directs all industrial engineering activities for the shops to improve the labor efficiency and productivity using lean and WCM principles. \n
- Ensures proper and effective support of new product launches by the manufacturing engineering department staff. \n
- Leads and coordinates the daily activities of various Manufacturing Areas, Interfaces with Advanced Manufacturing and Maintenance Groups. \n
- Helps to develop plant layouts and materials/product flow plans via internal and/or external sources. \n
- Assists in the preparation of Process Flow Diagrams, and other Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities. \n
- Leads and/or participates in all continuous improvement activities within area of responsibility, and ensures participation of direct reports these activities, as needed. \n
- Evaluates departmental training needs, schedules employees for training, and ensures their attendance of both local and outside seminars, as required. \n
- Develops annual department goals in support of Rivian’s stated corporate goals, and reviews and follows-up on the status of achieving these goals. \n
- Ensures the on-time delivery of all equipment necessary to support new product launches. \n
- Maintains open lines of communications with, and serves as a liaison between corporate staff, plant personnel, customers, and suppliers
regarding new product launches and production issues. \n - Manages overall departmental budgets and operations within the department per company set goals. \n
- Supervises and manages 7-10 salary direct reports. \n
- Performs all other duties as assigned. \n
Qualifications
- \n
- APQP. (Design for Quality) \n
- Problem solving experience – 8D method. \n
- Manufacturing/assembly process experience. \n
- PPAP documents. \n
- PFMEA. \n
- Control plan. \n
- MSA. \n
- CAD experience (Catia preferred). \n
- Statistical process control / control charts. \n
- Data analytics software skills; ex. Excel, Tableau, etc. \n
- Kaizen / continuous improvement process experience. \n
- 6 Sigma greenbelt or blackbelt desired. \n
- Good oral and written communication skills. \n
- Demonstrated project management skills. \n
- 8 to 10 years of experience in manufacturing environment to include ·2 to 4 years of experience in Manufacturing or Process Engineering \n
- 3 - 5 years of experience in a lead, supervisory, or management position. (Experience in an engineering function with an automotive manufacturer is preferred) \n
- Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline or a combination of combined experience. \n
