Role Summary
In this role, you will focus on improving robotic processes in our paint shop through troubleshooting, programming, and critical-thinking. We are hiring for all levels of Automation Technicians. General requirements for the positions follow, but not all inclusive of all levels to technician. This opening is located at our Normal, IL facility and will report directly to the Lead Paint Engineer.
Responsibilities
- \n
- Understand and troubleshoot fluid delivery systems \n
- Demonstrate application with understanding the science of appearance \n
- Must be able to interpret engineering process sheets and apply paint layers to the requirements \n
- Remain in assigned work area unless otherwise requested to support another zone \n
- Complete all shift communications before end of shift, i.e. Communication emails, Paint schedule changes, and Equipment repair \n
- Perform QC checks including dehydration checks, colorimeter, wavescan, PELT, and elcometer \n
- Perform Robot cleaning \n
- Perform bell cup cleaning & inspections \n
- Responsible to produce quality with the minimum amount of material \n
- Quarterly feedback to TM's, TC's and Quality group \n
- Robot fault recovery \n
- Complete assigned Robot PM's \n
- Support line during lunch and breaks \n
- Operate lift trucks as required \n
Qualifications
- \n
- Can read and understand Work instructions. \n
- Can provide training to others as we bring on additional help. \n
- Understands FIFO principles of stock rotation and shelf life. \n
- Capable of working with other groups (quality, maintenance, engineering) to achieve the goals of Rivian. \n
- Minimum of 1 year experience programming industrial robots. Rivian will provide ABB specific training or have 5+ years manually painting automotive parts \n
- Must demonstrate competence of ABB simulation software within 1 year of being in the position. This software knowledge will be required for Rivian to provide future model launch capability in application automation \n
- Capable of lifting 50 pounds. \n
- Ability to stand for 8-12 hours per day. \n
- Required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. \n
- Ability to lift and carry at least 25 pounds. \n
- Ability to perform all duties in a working environment that may contain dust, high noise levels, hot and cold weather. \n
