Role Summary
The Quality Engineering Technician within our Battery Department will assist with Root Cause Analysis, Rivian Concern (RC) Management and Coordination, Continuous Improvement, Quality, Operations Support, Data collection, and supporting our Quality Engineers. Must be willing to work flexible shifts. This position will report into one of our Quality GL onsite in Normal, IL.
Responsibilities

- Assist with Data collection on the assembly lines \n
- Review and update RCs \n
- Work directly with area Quality Engineer and Group Leader for continuous improvements \n
- Support JIRA tickets, and CI projects \n
- Support Engineering trials \n
- Test, evaluate and investigate quality and process concerns \n
- Support quality containment on non-conforming parts to determine actions \n
- Assist in troubleshooting problems with production processes and new program launches \n
- Assist employee training certification program \n
- Reviews, interprets, and summarizes statistical data \n
- Participates in department meetings \n
- Compile and present reports for leadership \n
- Completes documentation of activities as required \n
- Develops and / or reviews production procedures \n
- Assist in maintenance and work instruction updates, standardized work, process flow, and process documentation to ensure manufacturing process is being followed \n
- Identify and implement solutions for issues relating to safety, quality, productivity, and cost reductions \n
- Assist in new trials of supplier parts or materials and complete current part or material modification \n
- Provide PFMA feedback from builds to Quality and Process Engineers including but not limited to (build risks, ergonomics, tool clearance, hand tool recommendations, manufacturing feasibility recommendations to ensure a silent launch of new product \n
- Run try outs, and perform root cause investigation \n
- Train Quality TMs and Quality Techs as required \n
Qualifications
- \n
- 1 year at Rivian or equivalent prior manufacturing experience in an OEM environment \n
- Associate degree or technical trades education is preferred \n
- Good time Management skills \n
- Work autonomously, self-directed problem solver \n
- Good planning and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and accomplish
tasks in a fast-paced environment \n - Communication skills across various levels of leadership \n
- Ability to use/read: Basic 3D Exp CAD; MS Office (Excel, Word, Power point),
Outlook, Jira system: RCRs, PCDs preferred \n - Experience using MES and/or HMI screens \n
- Deep technical background, documented Technician work history \n
- Ability to stand for 8-12 hours per day. \n
- Required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. \n
- Ability to lift and carry at least 25 pounds. \n
- Ability to perform all duties in a working environment that may contain dust, high noise levels, hot and cold weather. \n
