Role Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated individual for vehicle-level ADAS testing of our vehicles. The Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) / Autonomy Test Engineer will help improve Rivian’s program by supporting the development team with vehicle-level tuning and testing as well as ensuring market regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will be highly organized and able to manage fluid projects.

This full-time role requires the flexibility of traveling (up to 20%) to various domestic and international destinations as necessary, to test vehicles on public roads, test tracks and Proving Grounds.
Responsibilities

- Design, develop, execute and maintain ADAS, Autonomy & Functional Safety test plans, scenario suites and tooling for feature data collection and validation while keeping track of program milestones. (Vehicle/Pedestrian Detection, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, etc.) \n
- Collaborate with Functional Safety team to define and test Safety Goals, developing test scripts to automate and shorten testing life cycle. \n
- Plan and execute testing and data capture for regular software regression, DVP and ad-hoc test requests for software development and deployment. \n
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams, external governing agencies and test sites to clarify requirements, manage testing, develop and validate vehicle performance. \n
- Analyze test data against internal requirements and make recommendations to design teams based on findings, including troubleshooting issues and root cause analysis. \n
- Lead on & off-site test trips, including management and support of technicians in test vehicle setup and execution. \n
- Generate test reports to document and track test results and communicate issues. \n
- Maintain and operate test robots, including liaising with suppliers and maintaining spare parts, targets, and consumables to meet testing demands. \n
- Maintain vehicle software and proactively collaborate cross-functionally to solve vehicle-level issues. \n
- Design, fabricate and modify test equipment and data acquisition systems as needed. \n
Qualifications
- \n
- 2+ years of experience ADAS, autonomous vehicles, functional safety, regulatory, Vehicle Dynamics or related field (ex. US NCAP, EU NCAP, IIHS, ISO26262 / IEC61508, Automotive SPICE). \n
- Experience with ground truth equipment (Oxford OXTS, dGPS, Racelogic VBOX). \n
- Experience with steering, braking and acceleration robots, robot test targets and tow targets (Moshon, AB Dynamics, 4A, Messring, Humanetics). \n
- Experience with automotive electrical systems and communication protocols (CAN, Flexray, XCP, Ethernet, LIN) and relevant debug tools (Vector CANalyzer, Vehicle Spy, Python, etc.). \n
- Experience with SW integration, requirements setting, DVP, software development lifecycle, software tools, languages, protocols and configuration management SW (JAMA, JIRA, Confluence, GIT, Python, Matlab, SQL, Python, Go, CAPL etc.) \n
- Experience driving prototype vehicles, including proving grounds, limit driving and/or certifications. \n
- Valid US driver's license. \n
- B.S. degree or strong technical background in Mechanical, Electrical, SW, Mechatronics, Robotics, or Computer Science / Engineering, Vehicle Dynamics, or a related field. \n
- Ability to work autonomously and effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment is a plus. \n
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, communication and collaboration skills is a plus. \n
- Hands-on experience with in-vehicle data acquisition and logging systems is a plus. \n
- Hands-on experience flashing and debugging complex vehicle systems is a plus. \n
