Role Summary
The Electrical Distribution Systems Engineer will be responsible and accountable for ensuring the electrical wiring system is readied for release to support mass production in accordance with Rivian engineering best design practice. Taking into consideration: DFM/DFA, and APQP/PPAP supplier quality standards. The EDS Integration engineer will act as a technical lead for their Vehicle Platform Harness Architecture and ensure supporting DRE and Application Engineers have completed all necessary design deliverables to support Gateway objectives from initial, product plan feature requirements, mid-cycle actions, and through end-of-life.
Responsibilities

- Define vehicle topologies for device connections, specialty cables, grounding, 12V high-current, 48V DC Architecture, 120/230V AC, and integrate with vehicle communication protocols (e.g. CAN, LIN, Ethernet, etc.) \n
- Collaborate with hardware / software vehicle architects to develop vehicle integration strategies for physical implementation of the harnessing, supporting and leading logical and physical diagram reviews \n
- Derive and maintain information from device transmittals (DT / ICDs), JAMA requirements, Vehicle Architecture, and collaboration with Rivian Design Release Engineers (DRE(s)) and output sub-system Logical schematics \n
- Develop complexity matrices for all harness families, defining all region and circuit level variants, trims, and options \n
- Define and review connector/terminal selection and cavity layout with Rivian DRE(s) and Librarians \n
- Ensure the design supports all cross functional teams design intent, including properly specifying wire size and type for ampacity, voltage drop, cost, etc. \n
- Support Vehicle and Tier I Assembly lines for design implementation, issue tracking, and closure \n
- Support TPMs in creating timing plans, as well as coordinating changes to ensure design alignment within the Electrical Distribution Organization (2D/3D/Systems) \n
Qualifications
- \n
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or related engineering disciplines; Master's preferred \n
- Experience in Capital Harness Suite a bonus \n
- Experience with Program Management tools, such as: Jira, Jama, Smartsheet, and Confluence a bonus \n
- Experience working with specialty cables a bonus \n
- Knowledge of DFMEA principles and execution a bonus \n
- Willingness to develop new technologies for future programs \n
- Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing, and listening) \n
- Self-driven, displaying initiative with minimal supervision \n
- Patience, kindness, self-control, confidently centered around a positive mental attitude \n
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Visio, and Power Point \n
- Depending on Riv level, years of experience \n
Pay Disclosure
Salary Range California-Based Applicants: $150,000 - $173,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
