    Role Summary

    In this role, you will be part of the team that develops automated test systems for Rivian’s electronic control units (ECUs) including Level 3+ ADAS, telematics, infotainment, battery management, and vehicle control systems. Our team’s solutions include internal-facing software, low-level firmware, data management platforms, and custom electromechanical hardware. These solutions get deployed internally within Rivian and at external labs and contract manufacturing facilities.

    You will be an individual contributor with a multi-disciplinary role at the interface between test automation software and hardware. You’ll work on developing test automation solutions for design characterization, validation, and manufacturing. The primary responsibility of this role is to own the technical aspects of one or more test automation projects, from requirements gathering to successful deployment, and maintenance. 


    Responsibilities

      \n
    • Design modular and reusable automated test equipment (ATE) by leveraging internal software and hardware frameworks, custom parts, as well as off-the-shelf instrumentation.
    • \n
    • \nWork with cross-functional engineering groups to define test requirements and system definitions from schematics and block diagrams.\n
    • \n
    • \nWork with the software and hardware automation teams to create modular test solutions for the latest automotive technologies.\n
    • \n
    • \nDevelop custom test sequences in Python following software engineering best practices. \n
    • \n
    • \nCreate well documented diagrams, bills of materials, and standard operating procedures for test automation systems. \n
    • \n
    • \nCollaborate with internal teams during purchasing, station build, integration and final commissioning. \n
    • \n
    • \nWork with vendors to communicate requirements and ensure proper implementation. \n
    • \n
    • \nLead the validation process of test equipment using GR&R, CPK, stress test, fault injection, etc. \n
    • \n
    • \nLead the commissioning of test equipment internally and at contract manufacturers.  \n

    Qualifications

      \n
    • BS/MS or equivalent work experience in Electrical Engineering, Controls, or related fields.
    • \n
    • \n5+ years of relevant working experience designing automated test equipment (ATE).\n
    • \n
    • \nAbility to read electrical circuits and schematics, navigate PCB layouts, and understand manufacturer’s product data sheets.\n
    • \n
    • \nExperience working in the automotive, semiconductor, or aerospace industries. \n
    • \n
    • \nFamiliarity with vehicle communication protocols (CAN, CAN-FD, DoIP, Automotive Ethernet, LIN, etc.). \n
    • \n
    • \nExperience with industrial buses and protocols (USB, VISA, GPIB, Ethernet, Serial, RS-485, SPI, I2C etc). \n
    • \n
    • \nExperience supporting deployment automated test equipment in manufacturing environments. \n
    • \n
    • \nExperience with automation instrumentation such as programmable power supplies, multiplexers, DMMs, signal analyzers, signal generators, multifunction devices (digital and analog). \n
    • \n
    • \nExperience programming in Python. \n
    • \n
    • Experience programming in LabVIEW preferred
    • \n
    • Experience designing custom PCBAs preferred
    • \n
    • Experience with camera interfaces and RF equipment preferred

    Pay Disclosure

    Salary Range California-Based Applicants: $130,000 – $150,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

    Role Summary

    In this role, you will be part of the team that develops automated test systems for Rivian’s electronic control units (ECUs) including Level 3+ ADAS, telematics, infotainment, battery management, and vehicle control systems. Our team’s solutions include internal-facing software, low-level firmware, data management platforms, and custom electromechanical hardware. These solutions get deployed internally within Rivian and at external labs and contract manufacturing facilities. 

    You will be an individual contributor with a multi-disciplinary role at the interface between test automation software and hardware. You’ll work on developing test automation solutions for design characterization, validation, and manufacturing. The primary responsibility of this role is to own the technical aspects of one or more test automation projects, from requirements gathering to successful deployment, and maintenance. 


    Responsibilities

    • Design modular and reusable automated test equipment (ATE) by leveraging internal software and hardware frameworks, custom parts, as well as off-the-shelf instrumentation.
    • Work with cross-functional engineering groups to define test requirements and system definitions from schematics and block diagrams.
    • Work with the software and hardware automation teams to create modular test solutions for the latest automotive technologies.
    • Develop custom test sequences in Python following software engineering best practices. 
    • Create well documented diagrams, bills of materials, and standard operating procedures for test automation systems. 
    • Collaborate with internal teams during purchasing, station build, integration and final commissioning. 
    • Work with vendors to communicate requirements and ensure proper implementation. 
    • Lead the validation process of test equipment using GR&R, CPK, stress test, fault injection, etc. 
    • Lead the commissioning of test equipment internally and at contract manufacturers.  

    Qualifications

    • BS/MS or equivalent work experience in Electrical Engineering, Controls, or related fields.
    • 5+ years of relevant working experience designing automated test equipment (ATE).
    • Ability to read electrical circuits and schematics, navigate PCB layouts, and understand manufacturer’s product data sheets.
    • Experience working in the automotive, semiconductor, or aerospace industries. 
    • Familiarity with vehicle communication protocols (CAN, CAN-FD, DoIP, Automotive Ethernet, LIN, etc.). 
    • Experience with industrial buses and protocols (USB, VISA, GPIB, Ethernet, Serial, RS-485, SPI, I2C etc). 
    • Experience supporting deployment automated test equipment in manufacturing environments. 
    • Experience with automation instrumentation such as programmable power supplies, multiplexers, DMMs, signal analyzers, signal generators, multifunction devices (digital and analog). 
    • Experience programming in Python. 
    • Experience programming in LabVIEW preferred
    • Experience designing custom PCBAs preferred
    • Experience with camera interfaces and RF equipment preferred

    Pay Disclosure

    Salary Range California-Based Applicants: $130,000 – $150,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

     

    Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental, and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is adequate on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
