Role Summary
As a Staff Functional Safety Engineer, Software, you will be responsible for performing functional safety analysis of internally designed application software and/or platform software.
Responsibilities

- \nDerive software safety requirements for application software and/or platform software \n \n
- \nContribute to creation of technical safety requirements \n \n
- \nSupport implementation of software safety requirements at the application software layer and/or platform software \n \n
- \nSupport/derive safety analysis using SW-FTA, SW-FMEA \n \n
- \nLead the development of SW architecture for safety, including ASIL decomposition, freedom-from-interference analysis, dependent failure analysis \n \n
- \nDerive safety measures (e.g. Plausibility check, Memory protection) in application software and/or platform software \n \n
- \nWrite fault injection test cases to support SIL and HIL testing \n \n
- \nSupport HSI (Hardware-Software Interface) content between software and internal/external developed hardware \n \n
- \nSupport defining programming and coding guidelines for the software development teams \n \n
- \nSupport tool classification and qualification across Rivian’s software toolsets \n \n
- \nDevelop verification and validation methods to support testing of software safety mechanisms \n \n
- \nDocument relevant software safety requirements, analysis, architecture implementation, verification and validation events for application software/or platform software for Rivian ECUs \n \n
Qualifications
- \n
- \nOver 5 years of experience developing safety software within the automotive \n \n
- \nExperience with the ADAS domain \n \n
- \nExperience with ISO 26262, with emphasis on ISO 26262 Part 6 and Part 8 \n \n
- \nExperience in developing automotive software with a focus on safety \n \n
- \nExperience with embedded systems \n \n
- \nExperience with C programming and/or model-based design using Simulink \n \n
- \nExperience with requirements management tools (e.g. JAMA, Doors, etc.), issue tracking tools (Jira, Bugzilla, etc.), SW version control tools (e.g. Git, Bitbucket, SVN, etc.) \n \n
- \nExperience with agile software development process \n \n
- \nDegree education in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or Computer Science \n \n
- \nGood interpersonal and communication skills with a high level of integrity \n \n
- \nExperience working within a cross-functional team \n \n
- \nProven experience working on multiple projects \n \n
- \nStrong team player; drive to exceed expectations and meet deadlines \n \n
- Additional experience working on NXP or Infineon automotive safety processors is a plus \n
Pay Disclosure
Salary range for California Based Applicants: $184,000-$211,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
