Role Summary
This person will be responsible for the mechanical design and development for Rivian’s onboard power electronics encompassing including, but not limited to on board charger, DCDC, and inverter products. This person will work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and cross functional groups, gain alignments, drive design decisions, and deliver and support products on time for various build stages.
Responsibilities

- Work in a fast-paced environment for various on-vehicle power electronics development \n
- Lead the development of build-to-print power electronics components and assemblies with other Design Release Engineers(DRE). \n
- Deliver products to meet milestones for all build cycle developments from proof of concept, prototype, and high-volume production \n
- Participate in technical topology selections and critical component selections such as power switching device \n
- Assess power switching supplier technical and manufacturing capabilities \n
- Collaborate with electrical engineering to develop magnetic components for both on-board and off-board PCBAs \n
- Resolve power electronics design issues related to power switching devices and magnetic components including component quality problems \n
- Be a champion of product design challenges and spearhead stakeholders and suppliers to resolve design issues by working thru process of problem root cause, containment, and corrective actions. \n
- Collaborate with other cross functional teams like Supply Chain and Manufacturing team to source suppliers and execute production launch \n
- Support the plant production launch and ramp-ups \n
- Work with Prototype team to build in-house design power electronics and improve design for production \n
Qualifications
- \n
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field. \n
- Minimum 10 years of professional work experience in high voltage automotive power electronics product development \n
- Technical knowledge and manufacturing process experience in power switching devices, magnetic components, and power electronics packaging. \n
- CATIA or other CAD tool experience \n
- Minimum 5 years of experience in liquid cooled, air cooled thermal design, and structural design \n
- Automotive supplier managing experience \n
- Knowledge or experience with sheet metal stamping, casting, wiring harness, and plastic injection molding processes \n
- Knowledge or experience with PCBA manufacturing and assembly \n
- Ability to work independently and manage several challenging projects simultaneously \n
- Problem solving capabilities and willing to drive to resolve product technical challenges \n
- Proficient with Microsoft office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, Visio. \n
- Always maintains a positive and proactive attitude \n
Pay Disclosure
- \n
- Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $150,000 - $173,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law). \n
- Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums. \n
