Role Summary
The world of product design has been revolutionized by virtual tools and simulation capabilities, and the field of manufacturing is not far behind. At Rivian, you will be at the forefront of this thrilling journey to transform the way we approach manufacturing in a virtual environment, simulating product, equipment, processes, and visualizing entire factories before even breaking ground. This role will be in our Irvine, CA, Normal, IL, or Atlanta, GA offices and reports to the Manager, Manufacturing Engineering.
Responsibilities
- \n
- Simulation mastery - Lead static and kinematic studies to simulate product, equipment and process interactions. \n
- Finding a better way - Drive manufacturing and assembly simplification through simulation \n
- Design and iterate - Support virtual, prototype and design validation builds, and present simulation findings to cross functional teams \n
- Digital factory - Develop and maintain the 3D Digital Factory \n
- R&D - Research and development of new processes and systematic tools to continuously improve our virtual manufacturing capabilities \n
- Challenge the status quo - Actively engaged in value engineering, challenge assumptions and break the status quo \n
Qualifications
- \n
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar technical field \n
- 5+ years of experience in an engineering role related to assembly simulation, DFMA, product optimization, and/or virtual process development \n
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (i.e., CATIA, Siemens NX, etc.) \n
- Working knowledge of product life-cycle management (PLM), bill-of-materials (BOM) and bill-of-process (BOP) development \n
- Understanding of Robotics, kinematics and 3D simulation capabilities and applications across one or more 3D modeling platforms \n
- Knowledge in CAD translation \n
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles \n
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems using first principles, challenge assumptions and biased towards action \n
Pay Disclosure
Salary Range for California Based Applicants: $135,000-$155,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
