Role Summary
In this role, you will be a member of the development team of the seats for the most adventurous vehicles on the planet.
Responsibilities

- Collaborating with the program engineering team to physically develop innovative and rock solid solutions for the trim covers, foams, and complete seats that embody the Rivian brand experience. \n
- Supporting the development and improvement of production processes for trim cover manufacturing and seat complete assemblies in a fast paced, flexible team. \n
- Developing and implementing the latest technologies in materials, processes, and design execution. \n
- Utilizing CAD/CAE, design concept, and scanning toolsets to define and optimize physical prototypes and production product designs. \n
- Developing efficient and innovative prototype processes to quickly represent significant production intent parts. \n
- Working with the Design Studio to develop seats that achieve the desired styling theme. \n
- Supporting the development of best practices for design and release engineering. \n
- Actively driving problem solving activities relative to aesthetic seating components. \n
- Oversee and finalize of all trim patterns for production encompassing BOM, drawings, sew sequence, \n
- Operate sewing and cutting machines to validate trim design proposals/validations. \n
- Build development seats based on trim design proposals for validation prior to release. \n
- Digitize patterns when applicable. \n
- Teardown and build seats as required. \n
- Perform overlay of pattern design levels to support and cost walks/design change from internal designs or suppliers. \n
- Modify foam pad to support trim appearance requirement. \n
Qualifications
- \n
- Expert experience with trim pattern development through all project phases (unwrapping/quoting to production release), complete seat final assembly, and rapid prototyping technologies are a must \n
- Expert experience in Lectra’s software Design Concept or similar software. \n
- Knowledge of sewing assembly \n
- Knowledge and experience in production required pattern design such as notch alignment, cut seams, seam width, ease of sewing etc.. \n
- Trim pattern CAD design & manufacturing process experience are a must. \n
- Eagerness to work cross-functionally with program engineering, design studio, quality, and manufacturing in a dynamic environment where you are part of a team \n
- Strong understanding of the first-principle physics & requirements of seat systems \n
- The desire and curiosity to strive for continuous product, process, and personal improvement \n
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills \n
- High level understanding of trim materials qualities, (nap/stretch direction) and ability to provide recommendations based on component level design. \n
Pay Disclosure
Salary Range for California-Based Applicants: $96,000 - $111,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, and other factors permitted by law).
