Role Summary
The EHS Specialist will work as a local leader in Germany but also supporting Rivian’s EHS activities across Europe. You are comfortable working with a wide variety of stakeholders, influencing incredible teams as a conduit of support, and fostering inter-department communications for sustainability, safety, and environmental matters. You know how to influence and shape the culture of operations, so this position drives engagement through communication and educates team members to ensure a safe and healthy workplace. In addition, the position supports and drives continuous improvement while working with team members to identify solutions to Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) challenges.
\nThe ideal candidate is a highly self-motivated and organized individual. This person will have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills as well as be able to understand complex regulations and be able to communicate requirements to groups with diverse interests and backgrounds. Flexibility and excellent communication skills will benefit this person greatly as they will work in a fast-paced, multicultural, team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities

- \nEnsure compliance with applicable workplace safety regulations. \n \n
- \nUnderstand and influence human behaviors to reduce workplace risks. \n \n
- \nCompetency in risk assessment and determining appropriate control measures. \n \n
- \nIdentifying and minimizing Environmental, Health and Safety risks and prioritising and communicating critical tasks, as required, to essential business units. \n \n
- \nEffectively teach others to assess risk, identify hazards, and implement appropriate controls. \n \n
- \nDevelop and implement health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation. \n \n
- \nComply with all company policies and procedures. \n \n
- \nSupport development and implementation of routine inspections and evaluate compliance with health, safety & environmental legislation. \n \n
- \nKeep up to date on new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and any developments affecting the industry. \n \n
- \nAbility to manage environmental permits. \n \n
- \nSupport local teams in their interactions with enforcing authorities and generate any reports which are required on annual safety performance or workplace incidents. \n \n
- \nAct as point of contact with occupational health provider and support creation and monitoring of annual plan. \n \n
- \nSupport personnel in selection of appropriate personal protective equipment and other safety equipment. \n \n
- \nConduct incident investigations to determine root causes and corrective actions. \n \n
- \nDevelop and deliver safety training and instruction, toolbox talks and health awareness programs. \n \n
- \nDevelop and establish emergency response plans. \n \n
Qualifications
- \n
- \nQualified to level of Sicherheitstechniker / Safety Technician or prepared to work towards gaining a recognised qualification. \n \n
- \nA minimum of 3 years of experience in EH&S. \n \n
- \nProficient knowledge of safety and environmental regulations. \n \n
- \nProficiency in both verbal and written German and English \n \n
- \nFamiliarity with data and root cause analysis techniques. \n \n
- \nDetailed and concise communication \n \n
- \nUnderstanding of incident and injury prevention programs. \n \n
- \nExperience implementing, training, and maintaining safety programs. \n \n
- \nAbility to work varied hours (emergencies, projects) with occasional travel (international & domestic). \n \n
- \nMust possess a valid driver’s license, and have a clean driving record \n \n
- \nProficient skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint. \n \n
