Role Summary
Responsibilities
- \n
- Lead vehicle internal/external aerothermal analysis to support multiple vehicle-level projects \n
- Prepare, run and post-process Solar, Thermal, Electronics Cooling and Human Comfort simulations using coupled TAITherm/RadTherm and PowerFlow or Star CCM+. (Thermal/solar radiation, heat transfer, TaiTherm, Star CCM, HVAC module/ducting/vent design, human comfort modeling, electronics cooling) \n
- Correlate simulations with Solar, Thermal & Human Comfort physical tests \n
- Compile and present reports with simulation results \n
- Collaborate with the Studio, Thermal, Interior teams to develop innovative and efficient HVAC and cooling strategies \n
- Propose solutions to issues when found \n
- Conduct vehicle level HVAC performance test including benchmarking, development and engineering signoff \n
- Lead individual efforts and perform as a part of cross-functional team \n
Qualifications
- \n
- Minimum Engineering (Mechanical/Aerospace) Bachelor’s and preferred Graduate Degree from an accredited University with a strong background in CFD and Thermal Science courses \n
- Experience in using TaiTherm for solar, thermal, electronics cooling and human thermal comfort analysis \n
- CFD software experience (StarCCM+, Fluent, PowerFlow) \n
- Mesh Preparation experience (with ANSA or PowerDELTA or ICEM) for Star CCM and TaiTherm \n
- 5+ years’ experience in aerothermal analysis or HVAC design or electronics cooling preferred \n
- CAD experience (CATIA, Solidworks, NX, ALIAS) \n
- Proven track record of problem solving and independent root cause analysis \n
- Electronics cooling analysis experience with FlowTherm/Icepack or research background will be a plus \n
- Thermal chamber/Climatic wind tunnel testing experience a great plus \n
- Electric vehicle and Formula SAE experience desirable \n
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skill \n
- Adapt to quick changes in business environment \n
- Multiple level of engineering positions available depending on experience \n
- Travel: 10% \n
Pay Disclosure
Salary range for California Based Applicants: $135,000-$155,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
