Role Summary
The role will work on the high voltage power electronics product design at Carson, CA. The role will identify and analyze issues and develop solutions of complex engineering issues.
Responsibilities
- \n
- Join a highly capable team to design industry leading power electronic conversion units \n
- The Power Electronics Engineer will evaluate and validate the subcomponents for the traction power inverters. \n
- Support characterization and test activities under direction of senior engineers \n
- Design circuit card for the traction power inverter. \n
- Test traction inverters in lab, dyno and vehicle. \n
- Analyze circuits using Spice, Mathcad, PLECS, and other tools \n
- Debug issues and solve problems when they arise \n
Qualifications
- \n
- Minimum BS Degree in Electrical Engineering (MS or advanced degree preferred) \n
- 3+ years’ experience preferred working with power electronics \n
- Expertise in power electronics circuits and concepts \n
- Knowledge of power electronics topologies \n
- Understanding of the key components: power semiconductors, inductors, transformers, capacitors \n
- Ability to design schematic and layout of the controller and gate driver circuits for the traction power inverter. \n
- Experience in power device characterization, simulation and testing. \n
- Comfortable working with high voltages and currents \n
- Experience using software tools such as Spice, Mathcad, and Matlab \n
Pay Disclosure
- \n
- Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $121,000 - $139,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law). \n
- Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums. \n
