Role Summary
The Manager, EHS provides operational oversight for safety and environmental matters. The position is also responsible for developing, leading, and sustaining safety and environmental initiatives to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for employees. In addition, the Manager, EHS drives continuous improvement for operations by working with the business leaders to identify solutions to EHS issues/challenges.
Responsibilities

- \nDevelop, coach and manage direct reports to create sustained career growth within Rivian \n \n
- \nManage, and ensure compliance with State & Federal regulations for manufacturing location. \n \n
- \nInfluence human behaviors to reduce workplace risks. \n \n
- \nDevelop, implement and maintain health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation. \n \n
- \nEffectively teach others to assess risk, identify hazards, implement appropriate controls and complete safety risk assessments. \n \n
- \nIdentify and minimize Environmental, Health, and Safety risks and communicate critical tasks, as required, to essential business units. \n \n
- \nInspect and evaluate operational effectiveness to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations. \n \n
- \nUnderstands federal and state occupational safety and health regulations and monitors regulatory changes as they occur. \n \n
- \nLeads incident investigation as the first point of contact \n \n
- \nCome together to communicate with multiple teams of diverse experiences and skillsets internal and external to EHS teams to build cross-functional organizational knowledge and understanding of EHS programs consistent with other locations or areas of the business. \n \n
- \nEnsure adequate record-keeping and document management is maintained at the site level according to regulations and/ or to the extent deemed necessary by the organization in order to demonstrate fulfillment of regulatory requirements and/ or the needs and expectations of interested parties. \n \n
- \nEstablish high-quality relationships with the operations site, regional leadership, vendors, local authorities, people partners, facilities management, and other support teams \n \n
- \nAnalyze, communicate data and review incident trends and recommend corrective actions. \n \n
- \nUnderstand complex regulations and be able to communicate requirements to groups with diverse interests and backgrounds. \n \n
- \nTravel to various locations as needed \n \n
- \nFlexibility for shifts, including evenings and weekends. \n \n
Qualifications
- \n
- Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience and certification(s) required. \n
- 5-7 years as an Environmental Health and Safety professional \n
- \n4-7 years in field and managing other people is preferred with demonstrated prior work experience relevant to this position. \n \n
- Competent skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint. Prefer SAP & Benchmark ESG knowledge \n
- \nProficient knowledge of safety and environmental regulations. \n \n
- \nAble to understand complex regulations and be able to communicate requirements to groups with diverse interests and backgrounds. \n \n
- \nIncredible interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence others that do not report to you. \n \n
- \nAdaptable and willing to learn in a fast-paced environment. \n \n
- \nProblem solving and analytical skills \n \n
- \nExpertise with data and root cause analysis techniques. \n \n
- \nExperience implementing and managing incident and injury prevention programs. \n \n
- \nAbility to work varied hours (emergencies, projects) with occasional travel. \n \n
- \nMust be self-motivated, organized and have knowledge of regulatory record keeping requirements. \n \n
- \nExperience implementing, training, and maintaining safety programs such as Lock Out, Machine Guarding, Hazard Communication, High Voltage Electrical, and Ergonomic Assessments. \n \n
- In the performance of the duties of this job, the employee is required to travel, drive a motor vehicle. \n
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This role necessitates the ability to work various shifts. \n
