Role Summary
This Battery Manager role is critical to the success of our production operation. This role is responsible to the leadership and development of our group leaders while ensuring KPIs are met. There is a highly strategic aspect to this role as we continue to ramp our production to solve the problems of today and looking to the future as well. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Battery onsite in Normal, IL. This is for our 3rd shift operations.
Responsibilities
- \n
- Promote a safe atmosphere by ensuring all safety standards and guidelines are met and lead by example \n
- Implement all relevant procedures described in the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure compliance \n
- Develop in-house systems and procedures to meet the needs of external customers \n
- Respond to quality issues by putting in containment actions, full analysis, poka-yokes (error proofing), and implementing short-term and long-term countermeasures \n
- Update quality documentation and communicate to carry forward lessons learned from quality concerns in new customer contracts \n
- Ensure that plant schedule for vehicle builds is fulfilled by operation deliverables \n
- Introduce new systems and procedures where appropriate \n
- Undertake internal and process audits of the Quality Management System (QMS) \n
- Direct reports are: Group Leaders Team Leaders and production workers \n
- Establish and refine quality sign-off instructions, standards and documentation \n
- Report against agreed quality metrics People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Environment. \n
- In conjunction with the Supplier Quality Assurance function, reduce the effect of non-conforming supplier materials on the production area quality \n
- Produce written reports and make presentations \n
- Undertake continuous training and development \n
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems \n
- Identify business improvement opportunities within the organization \n
- Identify and deploy the technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver projects, including the engagement of external resources as required \n
- Develop, implement and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility \n
- Help set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports \n
- Ensure KPIs are met \n
- Financial and Budget Control \n
- Input and hold responsibility for team budgets \n
- Responsible for achieving budget and forecast \n
- Responsible for the tracking and management of provided overtime budgets and efficiency percentages for the department. \n

Qualifications
- \n
- Significant experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably automotive \n
- Cross-functional operations in a manufacturing setting \n
- Experience of dealing with customers and suppliers \n
- Creative problem-solving skills \n
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals \n
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence \n
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization \n
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists \n
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form \n
- Ability to communicate in a high-pressure environment \n
- Strong verbal & written communication. Ability to distill complex information to different levels of the organization. \n
- Execution: demonstrate that follow through is given as much attention as problem solving \n
- Bachelors/Masters in Material/Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, or similar technical field preferred \n
- 5+ years in a leadership, project or program management role. \n
- 5+ years manufacturing/engineering experience in a high-volume manufacturing operation, preferably automotive \n
- Ability to stand for 8-12 hours per day. \n
- Required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. \n
- Ability to lift and carry at least 25 pounds. \n
- Ability to perform all duties in a working environment that may contain dust, high noise levels, hot and cold weather. \n
