Role Summary
The Material Analyst is responsible for material planning of multiple production builds. As a Material Analyst, you must ensure that assigned parts have on time delivery to the correct locations. This role requires flexibility to support quick product changeover, supplier relationship management, and an analytical approach to ensure optimal part inventory levels and analysis on exceptions. Tasks will require performing detailed requirements analysis, pulling data from multiple sources, and performing risks assessments to determine mitigation plan. This candidate will understand the Rivian supply chain, our production processes, our warehouse operations, and impact on other Rivian teams. This position is based onsite in Normal, IL and reports to the Manager of Material Planning.
Responsibilities

- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships \n
- Close collaboration with assigned suppliers to ensure timely delivery of parts \n
- Forecast accurate supply requirements via Material Requirements Planning “MRP” process \n
- Manage safety stock to maintain on hand inventory at optimal levels \n
- Ensure successful execution of day-to-day replenishment and supply continuity for all programs \n
- Primary point of contact for plant or warehouse escalations \n
- Manage backlog recovery through clear communication to the supply base \n
- Ability to support quick turn analysis on inventory run out and communicate clearly internally/externally \n
- Perform risk analysis and implement countermeasures \n
- Formally document root cause and corrective actions \n
- Attends meetings, creates reports and presents for their respective area/shop or suppliers \n
- Interfaces with Logistics department and logistics providers \n
- Support engineering changes, timing, and supply availability \n
- Determine bank build quantities in tooling moves, resourcing, and constrained supply situations \n
- Works cross-functionally with other departments to establish processes and procedures \n
- Develops and maintains department procedures and other written documentation \n
- Monitors supplier performance, conformance, and production schedules \n
- Facilitates and highlights opportunity for supplier improvement plans and countermeasures \n
- Cross functionally trains and supports plans to cover peer unplanned and planned absence \n
- Visit customer locations & plants during major milestone events to support the teams when required. \n
Qualifications

- Bachelors of Science in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or other related fields highly preferred or 3+ years of applicable experience. \n
- Experience with Materials Requirement Planning “MRP” Software such as SAP Preferred. \n
- Experience understanding MRP logic and demand plan creations highly preferred. \n
- Working knowledge in Excel, Word, Power point, and Outlook programs. \n
- Ability to set tasks and responsibilities. \n
- Creative problem-solving skills. \n
- Ability to meet deadlines and stay within budget. \n
- Strong team orientation and cross functional attitude. \n
- Previous material planning or warehouse planning experience preferred. \n
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as governmental regulations, safety rules, operating \n
- and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. \n
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. \n
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. \n
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. \n
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. \n
- Ability to communicate in a high-pressure environment. \n
