Role Summary
As an engineer focusing on test automation and integration for the Connectivity Software team at Rivian, you will work alongside software developers, system integrators, and system engineers to support automated testing of features such as WiFi, cellular, Ethernet, and GPS domains along with telematics and mobile app integration. Additional responsibility may include automated testing of mainline and custom Linux services, kernels, and bootloaders.

The connectivity automation engineer will champion the automated validation of connectivity feature development by creating, refining, and executing automated tests using a customized hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) framework. The engineer will also collect, review, and share results and as needed, create the appropriate tickets and documentation if issues are found. Depending on feature and hardware/software maturity, the engineer may need to scale the HIL architecture to accommodate the required automated validation. An out-of-the-box approach with respect to test execution and data analysis will greatly enhance the development teams and will help deliver Rivian’s focus on keeping the world adventurous forever.
Responsibilities

- Working-level knowledge of Linux systems to include benchmarking and resource characterization \n
- Working-level knowledge of Linux development \"from the ground-up\"; familiarity with systemd and associated tooling \n
- Familiarity with embedded security concepts such as secure bootloaders, read-only filesystems, IP table rules, and security policies \n
- Working-level knowledge of Python and scripting \n
- The ability to arrive to meaningful conclusions from disparate data sets \n
- The ability to accurately isolate issues in hardware, firmware, and software \n
- Provide insights and opportunities for performance and stability improvement \n
Qualifications
- \n
- A degree in either Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Information Systems \n
- A thorough understanding of the OSI model, network protocols, and expertise with test tools such as Wireshark and nmap \n
- Proficient with scripting languages including Python and/or Shell \n
- Proficient with database manipulation and data presentation \n
- A mindset geared towards collaboration and forward progress \n
- Ability to thrive under pressure and even with time constraints, apply creative and critical thinking to deliver exceptional results \n
- Availability to travel and support activities during off-peak hours as-needed \n
Preferred Qualifications

- Ability to triage ongoing customer issues and escalate accordingly \n
- Working-level knowledge of Robot Framework \n
Pay Disclosure
Salary Range for California Based Applicants: $178,500 - $196,500 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
