Responsibilities
- \n
- Plan, track, support, lead, execute, and report on full vehicle and sub-system development, validation, and homologation testing for multiple engineering teams, such as dynamics, powertrain, NVH, body controls, water management, off-road performance and others \n
- Assist in vehicle test planning, high level timing plans and budgets, software and calibration updates, data analysis, and control system data collection \n
- Execution and documentation of specific portions of the vehicle and component DVP&R using Jira, Jama, and Rivian proprietary tool sets \n
- Instrumentation of test articles including installation of thermocouples, video cameras, strain gauges, accelerometers, load transducers, etc. \n
- Create and modify test documentation including test work instructions, Rivian test specifications, and summary reports from vehicle testing projects \n
- Perform vehicle tests at a proving ground or other off-site public/private test location that may include specific conditions such as extreme weather condition areas, off-road, remote urban, overseas, etc. \n
- Coordinate vehicle preparation for testing, including instrumentation, software updates, prototype parts install, logistics etc. \n
- Perform subjective evaluations for remote design and engineering teams \n
- Lead initial root cause analysis to solve issues found on vehicles at the proving ground or other off-site public/private test locations \n
- Liaison across multiple engineering departments and multiple cross-functional teams \n
Qualifications
- \n
- 5+ years in a similar role \n
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related science from an accredited university \n
- Experience running and maintaining a variety of vehicle level and component level tests \n
- Detailed experience working hands-on with in-vehicle data acquisition systems including installation, use, and data analysis \n
- Direct experience working with HV and/or LV, CAN, LIN, and Ethernet vehicle data networks, including debugging and reverse engineering \n
- Proving ground and on-road / on-track experience preferred \n
- Willing to travel on average 25% of the time with short periods over 50% \n
- Excellent problem solving skills with an eye for detail and a focus on quality \n
- Proven experience with at least 2 major vehicle systems (ie. Electric Powertrain, Chassis / Suspension, HVAC, Braking, etc.) \n
- Team first mentality \n
- Innate curiosity about all things automotive \n
- Ability to work autonomously \n
Pay Disclosure
Salary range for California Based Applicants: $121,000-$139,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
