Role Summary
To manage and ensure smooth running of Final Inspection in the Rivian Automotive Assembly Plant. Responsible for the release of vehicles based on Quality Standards. MFG Quality Manager will oversee production final inspection operations across 3 shifts. The Manager is required to lead, plan, organize and coordinate the overall activities of the Final Inspection Team. The Manager will be accountable for the quantity and quality of the vehicles processed. This position requires the ability to work with cross-functional teams to ensure prevention of issues and to develop corrective actions. Requires technical decision-making ability on production vehicles. In addition, the manager should be a key influencer for the creation of a positive quality culture. This position requires a deep understanding of automotive quality and problem-solving tools. This position will report to our Sr. Manager, Quality Steering within our Quality Org at our Normal, IL plant.
Responsibilities

- Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice processes. Vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance. \n
- Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on operational activities. \n
- Manage the Production Final Inspection Team (Set clear expectations for each position and process and ensure accountability) \n
- Understand Final Inspection team KPI’s and create plans to meet or exceed the targets. \n
- Adapt to changes and challenges in the manufacturing environment while maintaining a positive and motivational attitude. \n
- Develop strong relationships with upstream and downstream stakeholders \n
- Clarify the feedback and escalation processes to the team and continuously improve these processes as needed. \n
- Understand daily, weekly, and monthly top issues affecting FOK process and ensure these are fed back and escalated appropriately. \n
- Lead Quality investigations and improvements \n
- Prepare and reporting daily production status vs. plan and actions to close gaps. · Develop and refine final inspection processes and standards \n
- Lead cross functional problem-solving teams \n
- Implement all relevant procedures described in the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure compliance. \n
- Respond to quality issues and steer, full analysis, poka-yokes (error proofing), and implementing short-term and long-term countermeasures \n
- Update quality documentation and communicate to carry forward lessons learned from quality concerns. \n
- Produce written reports and make presentations \n
- Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems · Develop, implement, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility \n
- Help set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports \n
Potential business travel to support product /process/system development at company locations

Qualifications

- Engineering, Quality, Business, or Technical Bachelor-Degree Preferred, \n
- \n 5+ year’s experience as a manager in manufacturing environment required, Automotive preferred, quality experience preferred. \n

- Experience dealing with customers and suppliers \n
- Creative problem-solving skills \n
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills \n
- Process standardization experience \n
- Demonstrated project management skills. \n
- High proficiency in computer technology and systems operations. \n

- Good electronic communication software skills (MS Office, Minitab, email, etc.). \n
