Role Summary
The Engineering technician role exists to provide support and technical expertise to the entire engineering team with a primary responsibility to the Test and Development organization. Within this role you will be placed on a high-caliber team providing support and technical experience in order to move current products forward, and ensure future products meet and exceed design specifications. Our operations are an invaluable asset to Rivian, providing detailed, quality work everywhere from state-of-the-art testing facilities, to remote off-grid locations in order to prove our products can meet our goals. Our team members achieve this with a can-do mindset, strong partnerships, integrity, and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- \n
- Perform diagnosis and repair of prototype vehicle’s electrical/mechanical/software systems \n
- Fabricate and/or modify existing prototype components/fixtures \n
- Maintain detailed records of all work performed \n
- Maintain test equipment in operational condition by performing routine maintenance and making minor repairs/adjustments as needed \n
- Install instrumentation, test equipment, and other components on prototype vehicles in accordance with engineering specifications, standards, and/or test procedures \n
- Communicate directly with engineers and other technicians to ensure a high level of technical support \n
- Load and transport prototype vehicles to specified test locations as needed. (Class A CDL a plus) \n
- Test drive vehicles on closed tracks \n
- Travel 50% \n
Qualifications
- \n
- 5+ years of technician / mechanic work experience in the automotive industry. Electric/hybrid vehicle experience preferred \n
- Valid driver license with clean record \n
- Advanced driver training. (preferred) \n
- Strong automotive electrical understanding \n
- High Voltage electrical knowledge and training \n
- CAN/LIN network understanding \n
- Minor fabrication experience \n
- Strong technical and mechanical ability \n
- Minimum age of 21 \n
- No driving related suspensions or revocation of Driver License (within a 3-5 year period) \n
- No drug or alcohol related driving incidents in the last 3 years \n
- No more than 1 serious moving violation in the last 3 years \n
- Must have a valid driver's license in the state of residence that you will be driving/operating a vehicle \n
- Will be subject to continuous Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) monitoring \n
