Role Summary
The Manager, Commercial Accounting - Warranty role is part of the Commercial Accounting organization. The Commercial Accounting organization is responsible for the accounting of all customer-type transactions. Specifically, this roles will be responsible to oversee Warranty Accounting for all Rivian products including its vehicles, accessories, service parts, and chargers. This role will business partner with its Reliability, Quality, Service, and Data Scientist counterparts to maintain, improve, and create accounting and operational processes.
Responsibilities

- Oversee warranty accounting activities for the Company’s Commercial Accounting team including policies, processes, financial controls, and related financial reporting; \n
- Execution, and continuous improvement, of monthly warranty close procedures, ensuring accurate results are delivered on time for reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP (and IFRS, as applicable); \n
- Implementation of best practices for warranty accounting to scale processes with the business and related offerings; \n
- Maintain Rivian’s warranty modeling, including evaluation of adequacy of warranty reserves and related activity; \n
- Continuous review of warranty data, including performing analytical analyses and interpreting related business impacts; \n
- \nAct as a strategic partner, collaborating cross-functionally with:

- The Reliability and Quality teams on warranty related data, planning, and controls; \n
- The Service Business on processes and data affecting warranty reserves and results; \n
- The SEC Reporting team on quarterly and annual disclosures; \n
- The Finance team on monthly forecasts, monthly fluctuation analysis, and executive reporting; \n
- The SOX Compliance and Internal Audit teams on developing, improving, and executing warranty controls. \n
\n - Ensure timely delivery of supporting documentation for external auditors; \n
- Conduct ad hoc projects, as appropriate. \n
Qualifications
- \n
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or finance is a must; \n
- CPA required; \n
- 6+ years of relevant experience in accounting, warranty specific experience is a plus; \n
- Expert knowledge of Excel, and knowledge of SAP is preferred; \n
- Working knowledge of US GAAP; \n
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including when involving cross-functional teams; \n
- Analytical mind with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills; \n
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team; \n
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work effectively; goal-oriented; \n
- Constant desire to learn and challenge others to find the best solution; not afraid of failure; \n
- Adaptable to change, both big and small. \n
Pay Disclosure
Irvine, CA based applicants $92,000 - $106,000 annually (Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location and other factors permitted by law).
