Role Summary
The Future Programs team exists to expand the definition of Electric Adventure Vehicle with new product and ecosystem solutions. We are specifically focused on addressing local transportation and the outsized impact towards Keeping the World Adventurous Forever that comes with disrupting short, high emission trips.
Responsibilities
- Integration & test of electromechanical elements and subsystems – motors, sensors, actuation systems, etc.
- Efficiently and effectively operate test infrastrute in support of product development testing
- Build support hardware (wire harnesses, fixtures, reference metrology, etc.) necessary to perform testing tasks when technician resources are unavailable
- When integration issues arise, quickly and effectively debug electronic signals, mechanical motion systems or test infrastructure elements (motors, inverters, loggers, DAQs, controllers, etc.) in order to maximize system utility
- Work collaboratively with product design teams to inform, assemble and operate test systems & fixtures
- Work collaboratively with product design teams to develop validation test plans and procedures
- Post process test data and present findings to product design teams and leadership
- Provide feedback to product design teams during architecture evaluation phases, component selection, component validation testing and subsystem validation testing phases of the product design cycle
- Work collaboratively with technician staff, EE staff, ME staff and SW/controls engineers
Qualifications
- 6+ years of applicable experience performing component and subsystem level validation and verification testing
- Strong familiarity with electromechanical systems including motors, sensors, actuators, inverters, etc.
- Proficiency in hands-on integration, assembly, troubleshooting and documentation of electromechanical systems
- Familiarity with product requirement definition and tracking tools (JAMA preferred)
- Proficiency in specification and implementation of signal filtering techniques to ensure robust data transmission
- Proficiency in sensor and DAQ selection, configuration, and operation (Simulink Real-Time, NI, Speedgoat, CAN, analog signals, digital signals, serial communication protocols)
- Comfortable working in a small-team environment where individuals are expected to fill the needs of multiple roles in order to ensure program success
- Understanding of electrical safety measures and comfortable working around 5kW+ power supplies, batteries, power transmission systems
- Track record of “continued learning”, clear communication, cross-collaboration and data-driven decision making
- Ability to clearly document and present project material to all levels of leadership
- Proficient with Matlab, Git, data management software, Microsoft Office products, light CAD skills
- Minimum education: Bachelors of Science in Mechcanical and/or Electrical Engineering or higher
Pay Disclosure
Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $135,800.00 - $169,800.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
