Role Summary
This role is responsible for the development of electrical vehicle systems and hardware architecture, across various technology domains (closures, seating, etc). It requires a strong fundamental electronics background. The role is highly cross functional and will be a mixture of remote, hands on (in office), and may include occasional travel. The opening will be located at the Irvine location and reports directly to an Engineering Manager within the Hardware organization.
Responsibilities
- Support feature development and decomposition down to the system, starting from user stories and vehicle requirements.
- Own requirements and design of the hardware system, ensuring successful implementation down through the interface and component level as the ultimate electrical expert and advocate.
- Develop and support execution of verification and validation testing plans and procedures.
- Utilize first principles in electrical engineering and physics to solve problems with unique and innovative solutions.
- Analyze and advise on new technology options and conducting trade studies for designs.
- Leveraging experience to define what needs to be done more than taking direction and executing.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned within the scope of the position.
Qualifications
- Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in engineering (ideally in the area of electrical or systems engineering)
- Experience (or equivalent): 5 years industry work in electrical engineering and systems
- Ideally knowledgeable in electromechanical systems (brushed/brushless motors and actuators)
- Excellent written and verbal communication for turning complex technical topics into understandable language.
Pay Disclosure
- Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $117,000 - $146,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
- Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
