Role Summary
We are seeking a seasoned Data Scientist specializing in autonomous driving systems. You will work collaboratively with diverse teams like systems, safety, and perception to identify and develop data science use cases, implement state-of-the-art models, and communicate impactful results. You will be responsible for building and deploying complex models over large datasets, demonstrating agility in adapting to evolving requirements, and driving the continuous improvement of our autonomous driving systems. Your role will be pivotal in leveraging data to unlock insights and drive strategic decision-making across the organization. Additionally, you will be able to tell a compelling story around why, what, and how data science initiatives are being pursued and their impact on our mission.
Responsibilities
- Lead data science projects focused on self-driving technology, from data collection and processing to model development and deployment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, product managers, and researchers, to define and execute data-driven strategies.
- Discover and identify new data science use cases to enhance autonomous driving capabilities.
- Develop and implement advanced machine learning algorithms and statistical models to improve the accuracy and reliability of autonomous driving systems.
- Utilize Databricks for large-scale data processing, analysis, and model development.
- Write efficient SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from various databases.
- Use Python for data analysis, visualization, and model building.
- Conduct rigorous testing and validation of models to ensure robustness and scalability.
- Publish and present results to stakeholders, effectively communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and autonomous driving technologies.
- Mentor and guide junior data scientists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Articulate the rationale, methodology, and impact of data science projects through compelling storytelling.

Qualifications
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, or a related field.
Proven experience (5+ years) as a Data Scientist, preferably in the self-driving or automotive industry.
Strong proficiency in Databricks, SQL, and Python.
Extensive experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
Solid understanding of statistical analysis, data mining, and predictive modeling techniques.
Familiarity with big data technologies and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Ability to analyze large datasets and derive actionable insights.
Experience in building and deploying predictive models.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to tell a compelling story around why, what, and how data science initiatives are being pursued and their impact.
Demonstrated self-motivation and the ability to work independently on complex data science projects.
- Experience with autonomous driving datasets and simulation environments.
- Knowledge of sensor fusion, computer vision, and deep learning techniques.
- Familiarity with software development best practices and version control systems (e.g., Git).
