Role Summary
Rivian’s Remanufacturing Department is looking for a Sr. Industrial Engineer to drive efficiency via time studies, developing performance standards, integrating them into our MES and data analytics programs. The Sr. Remanufacturing Industrial Engineer will be responsible for developing a department-wide 5S program that includes parts staging, workstation standards, and a Surplus Equipment Management system. This role will report directly to our Director, Remanufacturing and work daily onsite at our facility in Shepherdsville, KY.
Responsibilities
- Develop Time studies for each operation outlined in the work instructions in each department.
- Interpret result of Time Studies to determine capacity and technician efficiency vs. projected workstreams.
- Use Time Studies as the basis for uncovering opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with MES and Data Analytics teams to integrate time studies into our business systems to provide decisions support for materials, labor, and output.
- Set up each workstation for safety, quality, and efficiency, also known as 5S. (Set, Sort Shine, Standardize, and Sustain)
- Identify opportunities and work cross-functionally with other departments to improve parts storage, conveyance, and parts presentation to safeguard our investment in stock.
- Cross-functional collaboration with the Warehouses to reduce part count based on projecting field returns and end of life buys.
- Develop metrics for monitoring continuous improvement via goal setting, planning, and teaching on operations that are or may become a safety, quality ergonomic or capacity risk.
- Maintain a state of preparedness for future products, equipment, engineering changes, and projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering related degree (Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering preferred).
- 2-4 years of manufacturing experience – Automotive or similar preferred.
- Demonstrable knowledge of developing and performing Time Studies.
- History of driving performance improvement.
- Demonstrable understanding of 5S and its relationship to continuous improvement.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Spreadsheets and Tableau/Glass that track progress and provide decision support.
- Must be able to sit, stand, or walk 8-12 hours per day.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
- Required to communicate using phone and/or e-mail.
- Ability to view, read, and interpret documents.
- Ability to perform all duties in an office environment that may contain ambient noise and temperature fluctuations.
- Ability to travel 20-40% of the time.
