Role Summary
The Autonomy org at Rivian is seeking a Engineering Manager, Data Applications & Cloud Infra to join the Data team who can provide expertise in cloud, data applications and collaborate with technical and business users. We are seeking a Engineering Manager who will be responsible for developing large-scale applications using the latest cloud services technologies, AWS resources, and UI frameworks. You’ll be building from the ground up with an obsession towards helping the Autonomy team go as fast as possible and manage applications which supports reading petabytes of sensor data. In this role you will work with the Autonomy Cloud, Data, Triage, Simulation and other Technology Partners to leverage best practices and reference architectures highlighting AWS Cloud Platform and Applications development best practices. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in embedded software development, with a deep understanding of Type Script, React, Rest APIs and cloud infra. While an automotive background is not required, a solid understanding of the automotive industry and its related technical challenges is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers specializing in Data Applications( Web and Desktop) and cloud Infrastructure, providing technical guidance and fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Oversee the design, development, and implementation of data applications and tools for automotive applications and cloud infrastructure, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including program management, to define project requirements, specifications, and timelines for successful project execution.
- Conduct regular code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Drive the optimization and performance enhancement of cloud infra, data pipelines, data applications and identifying and resolving technical challenges and issues.
- Manage project schedules, resource allocation, and budgetary constraints to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of projects.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in software technology, identifying and implementing relevant technological advancements to enhance product performance and competitiveness.
- Collaborate with the program management team and leadership to define project roadmaps and strategies based on market trends and customer requirements.
- Hands on experience in cloud and applications technologies like AWS, Typescript, react, Golang, python.
Qualifications
- MSc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field - or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of experience in web/desktop software development, with a strong emphasis on Typescript, react, Golang, python and AWS or other cloud infra.
- Proven experience in leading and managing a team of engineers in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- Solid understanding of software development life cycles, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience leading the project, bringing products from proof of concept to manufacturing and through market launch.
- Experience with AWS Cloud, Autonomy Data Applications like Triage and Simulation, visualization, ML is plus.
